it's a small world

Start Your Day on Main Street

For the first time in all my years of visiting Disneyland, I finally climbed aboard the Omnibus on Main Street. And after editing our video and watching the footage back, I realized it was one of the most magical experiences I've ever had in the park.

No, it's not because I'm 51.

It's because riding above the crowds gave me an entirely new perspective. Instead of rushing to the next attraction, I found myself taking in the music, waving to guests below, admiring the storefronts, and appreciating the incredible details that Walt Disney imagined decades ago.

As a former Disneyland Cast Member, I spent countless days walking down Main Street, U.S.A. I knew the routines, the backstage shortcuts, and the constant energy of welcoming guests. But sitting on the upper deck of the Omnibus reminded me to experience the park the way Walt intended... not as a race from ride to ride, but as a place where every window, every lamp, every smell of sweet deliciousness, and every piece of music tells a story.

One of Walt Disney's greatest philosophies was that Disneyland would never be completed as long as there was imagination left in the world.

Slow Down on the Mark Twain Riverboat

One of the biggest surprises of the day was how much we loved the Mark Twain Riverboat.

After walking miles through the park, sitting on the deck while cruising around the Rivers of America felt like the perfect reset. It was a trip into America's past that came alive through this adult style storybook. There are no drops, no screens, and no rush, just beautiful scenery and a different perspective of Frontierland. Sometimes the most memorable Disney moments happen when you slow down and take it all in.

Never Skip the Jungle Cruise

Every generation in our group laughed through the Jungle Cruise.

The corny jokes, playful skippers, and classic Disney humor have made this attraction a favorite for decades! It's one of those attractions that never gets old that all ages an enjoy!

Experience the Bayou with Tiana

My favorite since it was Splash Mountain, and now Tiana's Bayou Adventure brings music, storytelling, fun, and a whole lots of splash!!

The attraction is filled with vibrant details, familiar characters, and just enough excitement to keep everyone engaged without feeling overwhelming.

Even guests who aren't chasing thrills will appreciate the immersive experience and the incredible magic of imagination!

The Ride Everyone Should Experience

If there's one attraction that deserves a spot at the top of every adult itinerary, it's Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance.

Calling it a ride almost feels unfair.

From the moment you enter the queue, you're part of the story. Massive sets, multiple ride systems, and cinematic effects create an experience unlike anything else in a theme park.

Whether you're a lifelong Star Wars fan or have never seen a movie, it's impossible not to be impressed.

Classic Disney Thrills

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad continues to prove why it's one of Disneyland's most beloved attractions. The coaster is exciting without being too intense, making it the perfect ride for adults who want thrills without extreme drops or inversions. It's smooth, scenic, and somehow even better after sunset when the mountain glows against the evening sky.

Bring Out Your Competitive Side

Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters quickly became one of the most unexpectedly fun stops of the day.

What starts as a simple family attraction quickly turns into a serious competition as everyone tries to outscore each other. Don't be surprised if the adults become more competitive than the kids!

A Disney Classic That Still Delivers

There is something timeless about "it's a small world."

While many people think of it as a children's attraction, adults often appreciate the artistry, craftsmanship, and message of global connection even more.

It's peaceful, beautifully designed, and a welcome break from the excitement outside. It's a greate escape from the outdoor heat, or a night attraction without the crowds as the are lining the streets for the parade and nightly firework show.

Modern Disney at Its Best

Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway combines classic Disney animation with innovative trackless technology to create an attraction that feels joyful from beginning to end. Every room reveals something unexpected, making it one of the most creative experiences in the park.

It's impossible to leave without smiling :)

End the Night with a Rush

As the sun begins to set, head across the esplanade to Disney California Adventure for one final adventure on Incredicoaster.

Fast launches, city views, and high-speed turns make it the perfect grand finale to an unforgettable day. It's the kind of ride that leaves everyone laughing as they step back onto the platform.

Final Thoughts

After spending the day with all my girls, and mom, ranging from 22 to 75 years old, one thing became incredibly clear: Disneyland isn't just for kids!

It's for anyone who appreciates great storytelling, laughs, nostalgic moments, making memories, and the simple joy of sharing an adventure with the people they love.

The perfect adult Disneyland day isn't about checking every ride off a list. It's about balancing excitement with relaxation, classic attractions with modern innovation, and making time to soak in the details that have made Disneyland magical for generations.

And if you ask our group, we'd do it all again tomorrow.... and chances we are... for 70 years our family has enjoyed Disneyland Park!
